Title: Anyone know why amv.org is down?
Post by: Curry on May 03, 2005, 06:39:42 pm
It seems I'm not the only one who can't reach the site.

I thought the server move stuff was over, just curious if anyone is aware of the what, why and how long, re: the downtime.

Derobert and such are currently working on it.  I don't think there's an ETA or anything as to when it'll be back.

Here's a bit of a better explanation:

#  Weird IP Routing Issues  It appears a lot of ISPs currently can not route traffic to .Org (or vise versa). Currently known include Comcast, Charter, Qwest, and Sympatico. There are probably others. If you can are currently affected, please send a traceroute 69.26.178.21 to amv@derobert.net (on Windows: Start -> Run; type cmd; type tracert 69.26.178.21; right-click -> Mark, select everything, hit enter, paste in email)

Yeah, I know, if you can't get to this page, you can't read this note. Pass the word along if anyone asks, please. 2005-05-03 21:50:35 EST

Thanks for the update, nothing too surprising.

Firing off my tracert to derobert.

It's just with specific ISPs.  I'm hoping that it'll be fixed soon.

http://www.internettrafficreport.com/namerica.htm

Seems four major routers are down and two are trying to load balance with the down routers.  ... or something.  Looking at the graphs at the bottom it appears to have happened at 5am EST.

Dero says that the non-functioning ISPs can still access the .org through http://www.animemusicvideos.org.nyud.net:8090/, although browsing it that way is a bit slower.

Looks like things are being cleared up a bit anyway, my connectivity was back this morning, without special effort on my part.

Me, too. But does sending the traceroute have anything to do with it working again?

No, that was just a set-up so they can hack your computer some late night when they've been drinking.
