We have a new sexy site layout here at RDS! What do you think? : ) Special thanks goes to AtomX for designing the layout in photoshop and beta testing my attempts to make his design a reality as well as Koop for brainstorming the thing.
If you are seeing the old two column layout and not this (http://www.randomdestination.net/members/corran/images/newlayout.jpg), then you are using Internet Explorer 6 and really should upgrade to Internet Explorer 7... or better yet, a better browser such as Firefox (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/) or Opera (http://www.opera.com). In any case, any of these three would let you see the new layout.
There went my weekend. x_x
If you find any bugs please let me know.
EDIT: If you are using IE6, you should see the new layout though it won't have all of the cool drop shadows. Also, if you aren't using javascript, the png images will look somewhat messed up... I still recommend upgrading to IE7 or a different browser, but if you can't for some reason, you now are able to at least see the new layout to an extent.

Whoa. I remember seeing this design like, this time last year, and after a while I kinda figured it had become another one of the things that just kinda got forgotten....
Very nice to see it in action
Good job Corran.

Dang, I only have IE6 at work. Guess I will have to check it at home with Firefox...
-
Out of curiosity, why is it only viewable on IE7 and Firefox?
-
cause the code breaks and makes it look like shit in IE6? hehe

Yeah, the site breaks and IE6 can't properly display alpha transparency in PNG files so I coded the site to check for the browser people use. To site will display the new layout in anything except IE6. I was able to test the page on Opera, IE7, and Firefox. I'm not sure if any other browsers other than IE6 break. : / To see what happens in IE6 you can view a test file I was using:

Work sucks.

Once I've put the text on the images Koop gave me, upload them, and add some things in the database, it will randomly choose 6 images out of the entire pool whenever someone opens the page.

Cool beans...

Pretty damn slick, does this mean Brad's officially in RDS now? :P

Why didn't you use something like this (http://homepage.ntlworld.com/bobosola/index.htm)?

Right now PNG isn't the primary issue but I've bookmarked the page in case I can figure out the CSS for IE6. It isn't tooo much of an issue at the moment since requests for the ie6 stylesheet are only 12% of the total requests for both stylesheets. It doesn't help that I don't have IE6 to quickly test my changes to the style...

I think we're done adding new members for a long while. Besides, Brad likes being in his own personal studio. :P

I know im an outsider but I think that the site is way cool. Good job.

I updated the layout using a second stylesheet to redefine certain elements if an ie6 or earlier browser is detected. I used the png-fix javascript madman pointed me to as well. Unfortunately it does not work on the background images so I've removed the drop shadows on those so the page looks somewhat decent. This is as good as it is going to get for ie6 browsers...

i think the new skin is beautiful
