Anime Music Videos / Re: Japan Expo AMV contest 2006
« on: May 12, 2006, 05:13:21 pm »
That sounds awesome but with less than a month to the deadline I doubt I will have something new by then.   :(

Especially since I don't have anything even started at the moment.

yep... of course I know how peropero created hers... I'm her bf and I exported it for her  :P

Anyways, you say you exported as avi.. but what codec are you using to export?  I say read over the avtech guide there toget familiar with this tech stuff... but neways... what I would do is export using the huffyuv codec within an avi container (select huffyuv codec in the video export settings).. then load that into virtualdub and reencode that huffyuv file into an xvid avi file.. that way you'll have a master copy (huffyuv) and a distribution copy (xvid)

Yay! It works! I used HuffYUV to export it. Thanks for your help! Now I just have one problem...when I export it, it creates my video into two different files.  ??? One is about 1,000,000 KB when un-compressed and the other is about 555,000 KB un-compressed. I can't figure out how that happened... :P Well, I'll experiment around with Xvid to see if that will work.

Sounds like Magix automatically splits the files at a certain size.  Some older operation systems had filesystems that could not support files that were very large.  Newer OSes generally don't run into this problem.  I've never used Magix but there might be an option to not have it split up the export.  If it doesn't bother you, you can combine the files in at least two ways.

1.  Use the append avi segment option in Virtual dub
2. Create an AVISynth script that merges them and then open that in virtual dub.  i.e.
Code: [Select]
AviSoure("c:\clip1.avi") + AviSource("c\clip2.avi")

You designed it?  :o

The AMV version, yes.
:)   I tried getting everyone at Hypeodermic forums to vote for that one.

:)  Hello, I don't think any of us currently have plans to edit to that series but you can find some videos that use that here:

(You might have to scroll down to see the videos.  The search form is rather large.)

News and Events / Upgrade status

If you can see this and you got here normally then the upgrade has gone well so far.  I still need to add mail support though it is kind of low on the priority list...  Hopefully I can get that done soon.  Pages seem to load much faster at the time I'm writing this.  While I was at it I also upgraded the forum software to v1.0.5 and I moved the subdomains as well.  Post here if you find anything broken.

I went ahead and enabled post editing just now.  I don't think it will really hurt anything...

Thanks for the feedback.  I'm sure the others will see it sometime soon.

thats probably a thing with the forum....since it only uses BB code
You can write with 'a' tags at the very least.  I'm sure other formatting tags work too.  Main thing is, if you create a new topic in this section of the forum don't use BBCode but instead use html for any links or formatting.

...Note to self: Html tags don't seem to work...

Fixed, turns out the problem wasn't how the database stored the code but how the forum stored the code to the database.  The php function html_entity_decode() rereversed it.

 :)

Other changes: Various links removed from main page.  Search on main page now searches forum instead of wordpress.  Fixed display of dates(They weren't showing up with new topics) and made it so some of the old topics would be displayed until there were ten or more topics with the new system.  Known issue: old topics don't show a link to leave a comment.  I'm not going to fix that.

For those of you that don't know, WordPress is the portal software we are using for the main portion of our site.  It seems to be very prone to spam so I made it use the forum instead.

All the old news is still available here.  I might have broken some things in the process of recoding the main page.  If you find anything messed up, post it here and I will fix it.  (Eventually... maybe.)
